  1. The regional events team for London and the South East have been hard at work over the last few weeks putting together a programme of naturist events for later in the year... With the help of many other BN members, we have been able to put together several days of naturist events to make the most of the (hopefully excellent) summer weather in August! These events have been organised in the west of our region, close to the New Forest in Hampshire (and a little further afield in Dorset)
  2. Bruce has kindly sent in this update on the problems at Abbots Cliff.   I went to the beach yesterday and also spoke to people in the area about problems caused by a landslip early in April  at Folkestone Warren which lies to the west. Access to the beach from  the east  - from Samphire Hoe near Dover has always been available and for people arriving by car* it is probably the best option as there is plenty of parking space, albeit subject to charges.                               *pede
  3. I've been in touch with the Village Pottery near Twickenham today and we can have two pottery lessons for 12 people at a time. It would be on a Sunday afternoon sometime between May 20th and June 20th. The idea is that there will be a 40 minute gap between sessions so the first group can socialise with the second one. It's a case of bring your own refreshments. Julie the owner and tutor has already had one naturist group as can be seen 27 minutes into the great film linked below. Tickets will go
  4. We all love the outdoors and the sun but are so often let down with windy, rainy days in Summer. But there are alternatives!! East Sussex Naturists have organised a visit to the Bexhill Museum on June 18th at 6pm. We have attended a few museum visits with BN in the past (Haynes Motor Museum, Falmouth Maritime Museum and the Ipswich Museum) and they have all turned out to be super interesting. Bexhill seems to have some great attractions as well including two of the Eddie Izzard family's model ra
  5. East Sussex Naturists return to Bexhill Museum by Philip Baker I met the Chairperson of the Bexhill Museum at an event called “Singing Down Memory Lane” which is for dementia sufferers. Sally Hemmings also runs the Bexhill Dementia Action Alliance. Living in East Sussex for 24 years I had never visited the Museum until 2024, but its a wonderful treasure chest of the past. The manager was very open to a naturist visit and we went on June 18th 2024, but the group were so interested in the displa
  6. In the last few months we have unfortunately experienced threats to two long-established swims in the London and South East region Although we have many great clubs and events across our region, and have made great progress in recent years in expanding opportunities for social nudity and public acceptance of naturism, there are still threats to well-established events from those who misunderstand naturism Two swims which had been running for several decades in Dover and Alton have been
  7. The Brighton WNBR is this Sunday. Brighton's World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) celebrates bikes, body power & low impact living while demonstrating our vulnerability & protesting against fossil fuels & car culture. 2024 ride: Sun 9th June, assembling from 12pm at Preston Park, Brighton. Many thinks this is the best of all the UK rides. It's quite big with usually 500 plus riders and is quite safe with an excellent police escort. It ends at the naturist beach and has a half hour break
  8. Over fifty people attended the 2026 BN Laser Region Christmas lunch at the Mill Arms in Dunbridge. We enjoyed a three course meal and afterwards the opportunity to play skittles. Thanks go to Geoffrey Ryder who once again organised this excellent occasion. We were reminded that the pub will host us again later in the year with walks and a garden visit in the area on days either side of the meal. There are a few rooms to rent in this lovely pub so keep your eyes open for announcements.
  9. We’re already well into February, and many of us will already have enjoyed one of the fantastic naturist events that have already taken place across London and the South East. We’re lucky to have many naturist swims that take place regularly across our region - and many of our member clubs will also arrange events throughout the winter. If you want to find our more, or just to plan a few club visits for later in the year why not head over to the Places section of the BN website We also have

Keith Palmer writes…..Following on from last June's successful naturist/clothes-optional walk along the Cuckoo Trail from Heathfield in East Sussex in aid of the charity SHELTER, a similar walk is now planned for Saturday 8th June from 10.30 a.m. as far as Hellingly. This will be in aid of Breast Cancer Now (more women, please, on this walk!) Tickets to take part are available from Nothing-on-Events and are £10, all but 50p or so going to the charity. You can also donate to my Just Giving page o
  12. As the Laser PRO I received the following from one of the organisers of the Durley House GBSD at Dudley near Southampton: Following the feedback  after the recent GBSD at Durley House I have contacted the owners about the possibility of a regular naturist swim at the venue. This would probably be a quarterly meet up as access is fairly limited due to a swim school that uses the venue 7 days a week although the venue can be available any day after 8.30pm. What day would be best for most peo

  14. In the recent Laser newsletter I listed an "End the Summer with Nothing On" event in Covent Garden on August 31st which was on the BN calendar. I've now been informed the event is cancelled but the website for this event still shows it as on.  The event is organised by Nothing on Events and I'm seeking clarification.
  15. I travelled from North Kent to visit Houghton Lodge Gardens. 2 hours in sweltering heat to reach this fantastic house and gardens on the bank of the River Test. I joined a long queue of people at the entrance, some had prepaid to include a bbq, a first for these popular garden visits but it was possible to pay on the door for just a garden visit (I actually managed to buy one of a few spare bbq tickets too!). So grateful to get to the changing area and get rid of the restrictive clothing I was i
  16. Heading South – London and the South East The peaceful landscapes of South East England offer not only scenic countryside and historic charm but also a growing number of opportunities for Naturists to embrace the outdoors freely. Cities such as London, Southampton, and Portsmouth also offer a variety of venues and Naturist activities to choose from.  So, whether you're strolling along the wide-open beaches of Hampshire, relaxing at a beautiful Naturist venue in Kent, or attending a naked swim i
  17. As PRO for the Laser region I was sent a trip report from an attendee of the High Beeches Gardens visit in September. High Beeches is in West Sussex on the High Weald and claims to be one of the finest gardens in Sussex. Here's the report: I went on the High Beeches visit yesterday afternoon, only my second-ever naturist garden event after Leonardslee in June.  Not surprisingly, there were only about a dozen of us, on and off, during the afternoon, including one lady.  The weather forecast

  20. Due to an enormous error by yours truly the date of the Houghton Lodge Garden Visit has had to be changed to TUESDAY 11 JUNE. I can only offer my apologies, I had asked for Wednesday 11th in error and the venue picked up on 11th and have us booked for TUESDAY 11 JUNE. They have another event on so can't accept any naturist visitors on Wednesday. I feel so stupid for not double-checking but as they say, it is what it is. If you know of any friends that were planning to come please make sure

  22. This really is a last chance to trek with llamas at Bluecaps Farm in the High Weald. The farm have announced their decision to stop trekking due to new licence requirement being introduced shortly. If you were thinking of joining the LASER event on 24 August there are still a few tickets available. Bluecaps' website and Facebook page announces that the trekking has finished but they have confirmed they will honour our booking. So it really is your last chance at this venue! Details of the event
  23. The London and South East Region Annual General Meeting was held on Sat 14th May via Zoom. This was the first meeting since 2019 as previous face-to-face meetings had been cancelled due to COVID. The online option for this year proved to be very popular with over 50 people registering. All AGMs are a bit formal as there is a vote to elect a new Committee. Viv Rimmer was elected as Chair and her position as Regional Representative to the Executive Committee was ratified. Nigel Newman
  24. The Christmas lunch will once again be held at the Mill Arms in Durnbridge, Hampshire on December 13th from midday. Last year's event was great fun and clothing optional, though from memory almost fully naturist. As well as the meal there is a skittles alley in the room for those who want some gentle exercise as well. It's a self contained area with bar so no need for clothes. This will be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones in a naturist setting. There is a large
