Summer continues to roll on and, with the oppressive heat now dialled back a notch, perhaps you are thinking of being a little more active this weekend. If you're wondering what's on, British Naturism has plenty of answers.
This weekend sees the Great British Synchronised Skinny Dip, the biggest weekend in the Great British Skinny Dip calendar. While GBSD events take place throughout the year, this coordinated weekend encourages clubs and swim groups across the country to hold events at the same time, bringing people together to celebrate the simple pleasure of a clothes-free swim.
Let us take a look at what's happening.
Friday
Some clubs are getting ahead of the main weekend with their regular Friday swims. Just because they're regular doesn't mean they won't be busier than usual.
In Norfolk, Club Naturel is gathering in the afternoon. If you really enjoy being in the water, you could even head across afterwards for the Watford Naturist Swim that evening. Further west, the Western Swimming Club is holding its regular meet in Chepstow, South Wales.
Saturday
Saturday is when it really kicks off, with events taking place across England.
• Birmingham – Spectrum Swim
• Bury St Edmunds – Mid-Anglia Naturist Swimming Club
• Edwinstowe – South Forest Naturist Swim
• Liverpool – Liverpool Sun and Air Society
• Ormskirk – Lancashire Sun Club
• Petersfield – Skinny Dip, with the option of naked dining afterwards
• Preston – Ribble Valley Club
• Sussex – Apollo Sun Club
Wherever you are in the country, there's a good chance you'll find an opportunity to strip off and dive in this Saturday.
Sunday
The programme continues into Sunday with more tempting options.
• Colchester – Colchester Naturist Spa
• Edinburgh – Forth Naturists Swim
• Glasgow – The Sunday Swim
• Llantwit Major – Nudie Dudie Swim
• Norton, Yorkshire – Ryedale Naturist Club
• Torbay – Torbay Sun Club
All Weekend
Of course, there is also the most flexible option. British Naturism: Sunfolk will be open all weekend celebrating the Great British Skinny Dip, making it easy to book a swim whenever suits them: even at the last minute if you are a . British Naturism member
Boats and More
Swimming isn't the only way to get involved this weekend. There are also two fantastic Naturist boat trips setting sail on Saturday. A naked boat trip is technically a skinny dip if you happen to fall overboard... right?
In Northumberland, the Seahouses and Farne Islands Boat Trip heads out to enjoy some of Britain's most spectacular coastline and wildlife. Meanwhile, on the south coast, a naked cruise departs from Poole Harbour. Both offer a memorable experience and are perfect if you've never tried a clothes-free cruise before.
If you choose the Northumberland trip, it's worth remembering you can make a whole weekend of it with a visit to the stunning Alnwick Gardens on Sunday.
With so much happening around the country, there is no reason to stay at home this weekend. The only real question is: which event will you choose?
