This weekend British Naturism hosted it's first Woodland Weekend overlooking the banks of Windermere, and what a great weekend it was too! People travelled from all over the UK to attend this 'back to basics' camping event at Fell Foot Wood. Fortunately the met office made a complete hash of predicting of the weather and it was much better than promised. You could tell that Autumn was fast approaching but there were still plenty of chances to strip off, be it the cosy warm barn with the roa

It's not often we get to follow in the footsteps of Time Team but that's what happened to a group of us at Colne Priory this year. When Paul and Gill, BN members in Essex, invited forum members to visit their home near Colchester I didn't really know what to expect. We turned up on one of the many blissfully hot weekends that we had this August. Turning into the grounds we realised that we were next to a rather magnificent 18thcentury manor house with really interesting features. About twen

Following the success of BN's work securing College of Policing guidelines for Naturists in England and Wales, I decided as SANER Campaigns Co-ordinator to build on the good relationship we have built with the Scottish police and try to bring about similar changes in police practice.Police Scotland are a single authority which covers the whole of Scotland, and historically attitudes have been fairly conservative towards nudity. Edinburgh is the only city in the UK where world naked bike riders h

STOP PRESS The Thursday 8th November date has been changed from a female only audience, and is now open to couples or singles of any gender identification for booking. Following the success of the clothes-optional theatre production of 'Hair' last November at The Vaults theatre in London, we are delighted to be able to publish details of two further clothes-optional nights. The show is called Divine Proportions which, we are told, is an 'opportunity to wine, dine and celebrate lif

For the last six years Torbay Sun Club have organised an annual boat trip from Exmouth. This year, after weeks of glorious sunshine, it took place on the weekend the weather returned to a normal English summer. It was therefore on a somewhat brisk evening that we set sail into the sunset. The boat had a promenade deck as large as the lounge below but it was only the brave or hearty who stayed on the upper deck for long periods as it was a little "nippy" in the breeze. The cruise sailed up t

British Naturism is an organisation run and managed by volunteers. We pay a few people to devote time to ensuring that specialist areas of our operation run smoothly and that value members receive for their subscriptions is kept high. Day to day, however, it is people giving their time and energy for the love of it that makes things happen from the senior echelons of the Executive Committee to the people who run sessions at events. We acknowledged a while ago that we need more volunteers an

Rosslyn Glamping - usually a non-Naturist campsite in north Norfolk, set aside two weeks for Naturists in July. Owners and BN members Claire and Andrew report: We had a very successful clothing optional fortnight at Rosslyn. The weather was almost perfect with just one thunderstorm - which caused us all to run laughing for cover as we had been enjoying a campfire and watching the lightning. A total of about 50 people enjoyed the two weeks, with some of the early visitors coming back for the

Twenty BN members arrived at Spilt to board the Majestic for a cruise around the National Park Islands, in the Adriatic off the coast of Croatia. A free drink was given by the Captain to welcome everyone and we were taught how to say cheers in Croatian. Each day the boat sailed at 7am, with breakfast at 8am and a three course lunch at 1pm. Those wanting an evening meal did so on shore, but the bar opened at 11am and I’m sure did not close. Sunday bought us into the KRKA National Park where you

The UK’s biggest and best Naturist festival will see guests arriving this weekend ready for the official start on Monday. Thorney Lakes caravan and camping park will play host to around 400 people for British Naturism’s landmark summer event - and it promises to be a fantastic week in the sun. The event is packed with activities on the park and nude visits to local places with music and entertainment every night. A 5 or 10K naked run takes place on the second weekend and you don’t have to b

As BN's culinary correspondent I was delighted to attend the latest naked pop-up restaurant. After the huge success that naked restaurants have had in Bristol in the last year it was really pleasing to have one in the South East. Robert and Pauline the organisers found an unusual venue in the form of a tea room called We R Cakes in Hertfordshire. Sarah, the resident chef, is used to putting on special Pop Up evenings with various themes and for us it was Mexican. All 26 tickets were sold and we

Talking to a gym buddy the other week, she asked me where I go to swim and I told her it was at the Naturist Club in our village. She looked at me with amused interest whilst inadvertently covering her clothed chest with both arms in a protective way. This is often the reaction I see when telling another woman. It is as though she believes the very mention of naked swimming makes her clothes see-through and indicates an instinctive vulnerability. Many say, ‘I couldn’t do that’. I understa

What started as a weekend event in Scotland for Naturists six years ago has turned into a major international event and sell out, now attracting a record 132 guests, spending between two and eight days in the gateway to the Scottish Highlands. Hundreds of guests over the years have now put Dunoon firmly on the Naturist circuit and most importantly the local community now accept Naturists as welcomed and respected tourists enjoying boat trips, garden visits and walks in the countryside - wit

The opportunities for doing day to day activities continues…we now bring you a naked dining experience in 'The Carriage' at The Old Station Inn, Hallatrow, Somerset. Between Bath, Bristol and Wells lays The Old Station Inn and Carriage restaurant. The Hotel, originally commissioned for the now closed Hallatrow Railway station was built in the 1920s and is a fine example of the architecture of the period. With obvious links to the railways it also features an old Pullman carriage as it

Another busy night at Stoke Waterworld on Saturday saw over 300 Naturists gathering for a night of waterpark madness. A good night was had by all with one of the youngest turnouts BN has ever had! YBN were out in force. A good number of families showed up too, and Waterworld doesn’t disappoint with a great mix of slides, play areas and 'tough mudder’-esque monkey bars and leaping lillypads! There really is something for everyone including those who just want to relax and enjoy a drink and f

Well-known to members of BN, and highly regarded, Laura Dodsworth author/photographer of ‘Bare Reality’ and ‘Manhood’ is embarking on her next project - and you can take part in it! It’s also the subject of a documentary being made for Channel 4. Burning Bright Productions are looking for women to speak about what being a woman is to them, told through their life experiences and their bodies. If you think you have an interesting story or view point you would like to be included then pl

A clothes-optional performance at Stockwell Playhouse Theatre, London It was with some trepidation that I approached the clothes optional performance of SKIN DEEP at the Stockwell Playhouse. I have reviewed shows at some very peculiar venues and sat on all kinds of seating including sandbags, but I have always worn clothes. How would I manage with my notebook without a good lap to rest it on? In the event, of course, I undressed and sat on a theatre seat and wrote in my notebook as usual.

Naturist Kevin Wheeler shares his experiences about making a stone 'mas' habitable on his own Finca in Spain. There is nothing better than a hot day on a British naturist beach. The problem is that there are just not enough hot days in the typical British summer. I am privileged to live on a farm with a private sheltered garden in beautiful part of Devon, but in forty years of Naturism I have seen no great improvement in the weather. So I am writing this in Spain. Four years ago I dec

BBC launches new podcast about body image and nudity - with naked reporters Jenny Eells and Kat Harbourne, reporters at BBC Radio Sheffield, are baring all in an innovative series of podcasts for the BBC. The two women (pictured) want to explore issues around body image and nudity to find out why people are so prudish about their bodies and why many people, particularly women, aren’t more body confident. By recording each episode naked they encourage a more open conversation with their gues

We were approached at the end of 2017 by filmmakers Natasha Coleman and Stephen Noble, looking for subjects to feature in a short film they were making. The film discusses how people find and feel about social nudity and aims to explore how confidence in our own bodies and respect for others prevents the objectification, and in extreme cases harassment, that plagues society. The result is ‘Bare with Me’ and it has been accepted into the East Film Festival and airs on April 26th. The categor

Those people who are lucky enough to have experienced skinny-dipping know that it’s so much better than swimming with a costume on! But that’s where the problem lies. The very thing that makes it better is also the thing that puts most people off! That’s where our national initiative, The Great British Skinny Dip comes in, Now in it’s third year, the aim is to overcome the nudity barrier by raising awareness of all the health, well-being and body-positivity benefits of nudity, and

Continuing our ‘Women in Naturism’ campaign, encouraging more women to discover the benefits of Naturism, we’re launching a new idea for 2018. Coming at the end of world-renowned social and sporting event Royal Ascot week, 24th June will see our own ‘Ladies Day’. It’s an opportunity for all of us to think about the women in our lives - friends, colleagues, neighbours - anyone in our social circle who we’d like to invite along. Events can take place anywhere, and we hope that clubs and swims

A new focus for British Naturism in 2018 It’s pretty obvious to everyone in Naturism that spending time naked has positive effects for us. People report improvements in physical, mental, and emotional health; boosts in the sense of self-esteem and self-worth; how it gives us an escape from the rigours of daily life and allows us to deal better with stress; how it provides us with a supportive community; and overcomes body image issues. It seems like the perfect advert: Want a great life? Th
