Forth Naturists Daring Dawn Dip!
Have you ever wanted to swim naked in the sea at sunrise, wanted to skinny dip, but haven't had the nerve, love skinny dipping and want to take part in an unusual one, or just want to raise money for Marie Curie by doing something different?
Then you're welcome to join us at Forth Naturist's Daring Dawn Dip. It's on Sunday 3rd September, just as the sun comes up.
It’s a sponsored event in aid of Marie Curie Hospice. It’s at 0600, aiming to be in the water by 0620. That’s sunrise. Dawn is actually 40 minutes earlier!
The beach is in East Lothian, and is not an officially recognised beach for Naturism but the council are aware of, and supportive of the event. It’s 50 minutes drive from Edinburgh and the exact location will be emailed to participants about five days before the event.
The council have asked that we are all dressed again by 0730. For this reason, we are aiming to be in the sea just as the sun comes up, which has a certain je ne sais quoi!
There is adequate car parking, the venue is a 15 minute walk from the car park. There is an alternative flatter, but longer route if you require it. If so, please mention this to the organisers in advance.
There will be lifeguards present, and clothed representatives of Marie Curie to collect sponsor money and to make sure other beach users know the event is taking place.
Email us at gbsd@forthnaturists.co.uk putting “Beach” in the subject line, and we’ll send you further details and a printable sponsorship form for Marie Curie. Health and Safety dictates that we need to know if you intend to participate at least 10 days in advance.
We are also hoping to run an event in the evening at our usual swim venue, but details of that haven’t been finalised yet. If you would be interested in that, put “pool” in the subject line, or both if you want to do both!

Climping Beach BN17 5RN is located between Littlehampton and Bognor Regis
Climping Beach - 9am - Sunday September 3rd.
Meet to the west of the far end of the car park from 8.30 onwards.
This is a sponsored skinny dip in aid of Safe in Sussex.  A 'just giving' page will be set up for the event.
Climping Beach is a quieter area of coastline than its neighbours of Littlehampton and Bognor Regis. Much of the area is now designated of scientific interest, and parts are a nature reserve, although many sections of the sand dunes are now fenced off to protect against erosion and help local species to thrive.
Facilities include car parking (charges apply), cafe with outdoor seating, toilets and outside shower.
There is a pub half a mile back up the road from the beach.

Sunday 3rd Sept Meet at 11am at Brown Howe Car Park near Coniston, Cumbria LA12 8DW for a 2 mile walk to the lake. Short grid ref SD 290 910.

Directions: from the village of Coniston, drive 2.5 miles on the A593 to Torver Village. Turn left on A5084 signposted Broughton in Furness. Car park is 2.1 miles further on your left. Well signposted Brown Howe car Park. Room for about 40 cars.Toilet facilities with baby changing.
From the car park we walk 2 miles. 1 mile on small lane 100 yards to the left of the car park on the other side of the road. This leads after a mile to a "Cumbria Way" signpost directing you left. Bear left into open countryside, follow path crossing 2 small streams then uphill to little valley in which there's a tiny lake; this is NOT Beacon Tarn. Continue up valley past this lake and climb small hill ahead. At the top of this the tarn is straight in front. We will use the quieter LEFT hand path away from the Cumbria Way on the right hand side. There are a couple of grassy banks where it's easy to wade in. It's deep enough for swimming quickly and we can have a picnic afterwards on the shore: bring a towel and a picnic! On the lake shore.
There's some uphill so reasonable fitness is needed but it's not a mountain walk.
The organiser has advised that the walk should be clothed or that people carry a cover up; it's not a very popular path, but it might be a bit more frequented at a weekend

Wyvern Swim and Sun Club's regular, monthly swim at Tewkesbury Leisure Centre.
We will have full use of all wet-side facilities (main pool, learner pool, sauna and steam room) for a full two hours, and Wyvern continues to offer complimentary refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks, etc) throughout the swim.
Wyvern's swim is open to all BN Members. All we ask is that you contact the Secretary prior to joining us simply so that we know to expect you, and so that we can have somebody on hand to show you around when you arrive. We do require Photo ID (e.g. valid BN Card, driving licence, etc) from all non-Wyvern Members prior to admission. You will also need a £1 coin to operate the lockers (this is refunded).
