Since Chapeltown Pool is meeting its demise a new South Yorkshire swim has been arranged, the first swim having been on 22nd May. I travelled from Rotherham by car in less than half-an-hour despite a major road closure in the area which caused delays. There was plenty of street parking, free on Sundays. After paying the fee we all went into the Ladies' to undress and thence into the pool. At 30m it is longer than most and had two shallow ends, it being somewhat deeper n the middle but still easy to stand. It was also a lot warmer than Chapeltown! The swim is at:-
King Edward's Swimming Pool,
Clarkhouse Road
Sheffield
S10 2LB
For details of the pool please see their website ( http://kesp.co.uk/ )
For location see Google Maps - the pool is near the centre:-
https://goo.gl/maps/G5FibCReNcB2
The swims will normally take place on the third Sunday of the month, fron 1530 to 1715 ( all persons to leave by 1725 ). Cost will be £5 ( BN/INF, cards to be shown ) or £7 otherwise. The rise in price reflects the increased cost of pool hire. The pool does not have lockers and swimmers are advised to bring a bag for their clothes/possessions and to take them poolside as the secure cloakroom appears not to be staffed.
The pool is situated near the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and is served by the 120 bus amongst others. For those arriving by car the staff car park is available. There are two entrances: Glossop Road ( rather than Newbould Lane ) is normally open. If you are hungry/thirsty there is a Wetherspoon's ( The Francis Newton ) virtually opposite.
For further details please contact Andrew Calow ( membersupportdv@bn.org.uk, 0114 2215579 ). or visit http://yem.bn.org.uk/swims.html
Further swims in Sheffield are on September 18th, October 23rd, November 20th, December 18th. Swims in 2017 will be announced later..

Eastern Region's Holkham Beach Day
This event is open to the public.
Holkham, on the north coast of Norfolk, is one of the best sandy beaches in the country and has long had a naturist section towards its western end. It's a very gently shelving beach so the sea goes out a long way and there's plenty of room for everybody. BN Eastern Region will be there for the beach day from late morning onwards, we have chosen the date so that the high tide will be at about 09:00 so it will be well out for the whole day, with the low tide being at about 15:00.
There was a period in 2013 where we lost the official use of this beach although it was regained after much work by BN. The official naturist area is below the high-tide line. Natural England, who manage that section of the beach, have asked that we keep within the designated area. The official area should be marked by signs on the beach. Please do not use the dunes at the back of the beach or the area outside the signs.
Our position will be marked by the BN Eastern Region feather flag and an orange beach tent, and we hope by a big group of people enjoying beach games in the sunshine.
This map (from Open Street Map) shows at the red star the turning into Lady Ann's Road, which is the car park for the beach (pay-and-display). It is opposite the Victoria pub, so the postcode NR23 1RG will get you to the turning. The blue star is where you will park if the car park is not too full, then there is a walk to the beach which starts roughly at the black star. It is possible to walk along the beach, or for easier walking go along the path behind the beach past the holiday cottage to the crossroads and then turn right for the beach.
We hope to see you there!

Little Orchard - Open Garden
This event is for BN members only.
Located in Gloucestershire’s glorious countryside lies the sleepy village of Slad immortalised in Laurie Lee’s autobiographical book ‘Cider With Rosie’.
Terry and Rod, Slad’s own naked gardeners and BN members for 30 years, now wish to share their garden with fellow naturists.
Little Orchard is a steeply sloping, terraced acre plot developed using many reclaimed materials, stonework and statuary which is enhanced with different styles of planting to compliment the natural surroundings. It has the benefit of a sunny SW aspect and is a haven for wildlife.
The secluded garden offers many seating areas and open lawns with stunning views of the Slad valley. Other features include a 30ft conservatory containing a small, heated exercise pool, infra red sauna and toilets. A large, covered, partly sunken hot tub is situated outside to maximise the views.
The garden adjoins Frith Wood, owned by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and further mixed woodland lies to the NE of the garden. These afford plenty of walking opportunities (Unfortunately clothes required here!)
Please bring your own towel. Light refreshments available. Picnics welcome. Open 11.00 – 5.00. Price £12.00 per person. Accompanied children free. Payments can be made on the day, either by cash or cheque. Alternatively you can pay by bank transfer. Details will be provided when booking your place.
Further dates to be announced.
For maximum enjoyment numbers are limited therefore booking essential.
