  1. The regional events team for London and the South East have been hard at work over the last few weeks putting together a programme of naturist events for later in the year... With the help of many other BN members, we have been able to put together several days of naturist events to make the most of the (hopefully excellent) summer weather in August! These events have been organised in the west of our region, close to the New Forest in Hampshire (and a little further afield in Dorset)
  2. In the last few months we have unfortunately experienced threats to two long-established swims in the London and South East region Although we have many great clubs and events across our region, and have made great progress in recent years in expanding opportunities for social nudity and public acceptance of naturism, there are still threats to well-established events from those who misunderstand naturism Two swims which had been running for several decades in Dover and Alton have been
  3. We are pleased to (tentatively) announce a naturist evening at Houghton Lodge on Thursday 23 July  Houghton Lodge Gardens is a glorious privately-owned property about 2.5 miles from Stockbridge in Hampshire.  The gardens have a wide variety of habitats including a traditional walled garden, with herb patches, fruit trees and flowers, a beautifully manicured lawn leading from the house down to the stunning river Test, a field containing alpacas (and now also sheep) and all available (but not
  4. As memories of summer fade and we look back on some great times you might think that opportunities to enjoy social nudity are also on the wane - but you’d be wrong! There are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy naturism over the autumn and winter months in London and the South-East, and we’re already working on some exciting plans for Spring and Summer 2020 If swimming is your thing, then why not come along to one of the regular swims we hold across the region - naturist swimming is
  5. We are delighted to announce the summer series of naked swims at Petersfield Open Air Pool in June, July and August. These are part of the Great British Skinny Dips, raising awareness of the benefits of skinny-dipping and raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. The pool at Petersfield, Hampshire is a delight and the staff make us very welcome and have agreed to put on a BBQ for us again and donate half their shop profit for the sessions to BHF. Links to the events are: June 14t
  6. We are pleased to introduce a (reasonably) new club for naturists based in the South of England The Naturist Activity Club has been set up by BN member Bernie who has a huge amount of enthusiasm for organising naturist activities - where possible outdoors and in areas which are not traditionally naturist The club has grown out of Facebook and MeetUp groups, but now has its own Page on the BN website, as well as its own external Website The club is focused on a range of sporting an
  7. This year’s Christian Naturist Fellowship (CNF) weekend had something for everyone, from “Jenga” to “Nunc dimittis”. From 6.30pm on Friday until 3.30pm on Sunday, over the long weekend of 5-7th August at the Naturist Foundation in Kent, there was a mix of activities from silent meditation to exuberant worship. The opening message was in the form of a video recording from CNF Leadership Team member, Bob, all the way from Fuerteventura. We were impressed by the numbers who attended (44) and t
  8. 2019 will soon be behind us, but 2020 already promises to be a great year for naturism in London and the South East! As the year draws to a close it’s a good time to look forward at all of the opportunities that we’ll have to meet together as naturists next year - for some of us this will a chance to continue our enjoyment of social nudity, and for others the first step on their journey Established naturist clubs and swims will continue to be at the heart of naturism in our region - we

  11. The Brighton WNBR is this Sunday. Brighton's World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) celebrates bikes, body power & low impact living while demonstrating our vulnerability & protesting against fossil fuels & car culture. 2024 ride: Sun 9th June, assembling from 12pm at Preston Park, Brighton. Many thinks this is the best of all the UK rides. It's quite big with usually 500 plus riders and is quite safe with an excellent police escort. It ends at the naturist beach and has a half hour break

The beach at Abbot's Cliff near Folkestone has had some dangerous issues in the past as described here on the UK places to go section of this website    Abbot's Cliff access Now Bruce one of our members has sent this information for potential visitors. Naturists wishing to visit this beach can expect to find access from Folkestone difficult this year.  Kentonline has published accounts and photographs of the land subsidence which has taken place nearby. The road to the car parking
  14. I'm delighted to announce the opportunity for a third visit of the year to Hougton Lodge Gardens on 12th September. Sophie, Stephanie and the team are keen to welcome BN and non-member naturists to enjoy an evening visit to the gardens. Details are in the LASER calendar but as this is not a BN-organised event there is no need to book tickets in advance, pay at the gate. To see the gardens online visit their website. The tea room at Houghton Lodge will remain open throughout the evening
  15. The BN LASER region took place at the Mill Arms, Dunbridge. The Mill Arms is a cosy pub in a little village in the Hampshire countryside. About forty BN members attended for a three course meal. The staff at the Mill Arms were cheerful and welcoming. BN chairman Colin Taylor announced at the beginning that a Sun reporter had changed her mind about about attending …. and she had promised to follow the BN dress code! It was a pleasant meal with lots of good conversation. For some of us

  18. Bruce has kindly sent in this update on the problems at Abbots Cliff.   I went to the beach yesterday and also spoke to people in the area about problems caused by a landslip early in April  at Folkestone Warren which lies to the west. Access to the beach from  the east  - from Samphire Hoe near Dover has always been available and for people arriving by car* it is probably the best option as there is plenty of parking space, albeit subject to charges.                               *pede
  19. The London and South East Region Annual General Meeting was held on Sat 14th May via Zoom. This was the first meeting since 2019 as previous face-to-face meetings had been cancelled due to COVID. The online option for this year proved to be very popular with over 50 people registering. All AGMs are a bit formal as there is a vote to elect a new Committee. Viv Rimmer was elected as Chair and her position as Regional Representative to the Executive Committee was ratified. Nigel Newman
  20. This Saturday June 8th will be the latest World Naked Bike Ride. It's not a BN event or even naked necessarily but good fun all the same and the after event looks like a lot of fun. This WNBR is now 20 years old. The AfterShow We encourage you to do the ride and continue the fun, friendly atmosphere at the AfterShow. Non-riders are welcome too. 21. The purpose of my two (so far) annual clothes-optional charity walks along part of the Cuckoo Trail in East Sussex (a former railway line  used frequently by walkers, cyclists and even horse riders) was to try  to demonstrate that naturists are normal citizens who simply prefer to spend their down-time without clothes (perfectly legal as we all know) but who, like any other grouping of like-minded people, might wish to raise money for a charity by a sponsored walk (again a common-enough event).
  22. In the last Laser newsletter I described London as being a naturist desert. Many thanks to Malcolm, Mark and Andy who have written to correct me on this! First of all the Noah's Ark swim is inside the M25 in Ewell, Surrey. That mistake was ignorance on my part! I thought it was just outside. However, it's a great swim to visit with first class facilities. The swim is every Sunday between 4 and 6pm. If it's your first visit you must call them on 07940 881 100 in advance. There's a pool a sau
  23. Yet another unique opportunity has now come up in the LASER region. It’s a naturist trek with llamas. Whether or not the llamas are joining in with the undress code will depend on the farmer I suspect.  We will be taking it in turns to lead 8 llamas through private woods at Bluecaps llama farm near Coulsley Wood near Wadhurst. This is in the beautiful High Weald area of East Sussex. There’s only twenty tickets available so book early. At the end of the walk there will be a picnic. The event take
  24. As the Laser PRO I received the following from one of the organisers of the Durley House GBSD at Dudley near Southampton: Following the feedback  after the recent GBSD at Durley House I have contacted the owners about the possibility of a regular naturist swim at the venue. This would probably be a quarterly meet up as access is fairly limited due to a swim school that uses the venue 7 days a week although the venue can be available any day after 8.30pm. What day would be best for most peo
  25. This was put on the forum by El Presidente Mark Bass but just in case it has been missed we have a new regional organiser in London and the South East. After our Organiser and Deputy Organiser  had stood down we  had a vacuum of leadership and we now welcome Tony Lehrer-Fry into the post and wish him well. Tony has a wealth of experience as a naturist, city councillor, volunteer and event organiser.   In Tony's own words, " I've been a naturist since the 1980s and a member of BN since
