Walking with Pride

The now annual Pride event at Sunfolk this weekend was an outstanding success. British Naturism’s solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community reflects the values of respect and equality upon which the organisation is built. The event was a sell-out, reaching site capacity as campers, glampers and day visitors flocked through the gates.

Led by LGBTQ+ Officer Richard Stacey and supported by Sports Officer Ian Munt, the programme was as busy as the site itself. Games included volleyball, water polo, darts, pool and some curious new discoveries in Battle Golf and Jazzminton, which uses mini tennis rackets and a giant shuttlecock. On Saturday afternoon there was a large, guided yoga session that proved very popular, while the giant BBQ that evening proved even more so. The fun continued after dark with a bonfire beneath the trees and a silent disco that kept people dancing late into the night.

Yet perhaps more important than any of the organised activities was the opportunity simply to talk. Conversations flowed throughout the three-day event, whether in groups sharing experiences or one-to-one chats between new friends. This aspect feels most important because it reflects the values that underpin the Naturist community: trust, respect and friendship. It is why people return to this event year after year, and why it continues to grow.

Sunfolk Pride may now be over, but Sunfolk itself remains open to visitors throughout the summer. With the hot weather continuing, there has never been a better time to visit, so check the website and book your stay or day visit.

Looking ahead, British Naturism will be marching in Brighton Pride. If you would like to join us and celebrate the partnership between the Naturist and LGBTQ+ communities, read more about how to get involved.

And if you want to show your support all year round, our Pride T-shirts are available now from the Ironic Clothing store. Wear yours with Pride!
