Yesterday was a big day in Somerset. For a few years now, our Wednesday comedy night has been one of the most popular features of Nudefest, and this year certainly didn't disappoint. Outrageous performances from Mark Thomas, Erich McElroy and Sally-Ann Hayward, expertly hosted as ever by Ben Van der Velde, will keep people talking – and laughing – for a long time.
But there was something different this year. Normally our comedy night is just that. We enjoy an evening of laughter before quietly heading off to bed. This year was very different.
Before the laughter started, regular favourites Razzomo got things underway with their infectious Balkan-inspired folk music, getting people up and dancing in the late afternoon sunshine.
But then after the comedy acts, just as people were thinking, "Well, that's it for today," the mics stayed live, the amps were turned up to eleven and Boomin took over. Widely regarded as one of the UK's best party bands, they transformed the marquee into a packed dance floor. Any thoughts of a quiet night disappeared as people danced like it was 1999.
In any other year, yesterday might have been the climax of the festival. But not this year.
Because tonight we welcome one of our headline acts…
