The Naked Heart Walks are coming thick and fast now, and the local organisers are raising the standards in spectacular fashion. One such example is College Lake, one of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust's flagship nature reserves.
Imagine enjoying a picnic overlooking a stunning nature reserve on a warm summer evening after winning a treasure hunt, all while helping to support the British Heart Foundation. Well, this could be you on 20 June.
Following the sell-out success of last year's event, we have increased capacity and adjusted the timing to create a longer evening experience. But the biggest changes are in what happens on the day.
New locally produced food box
As well as the fabulous cakes, coffee and soft drinks available from the café, we have been working with the venue to create something especially for us.
For just £10, you can order a special locally produced food box, created specifically for this event. Choose between a hearty locally made sausage roll or a vegetarian pasty, served with freshly made coleslaw and salad. It is the perfect summer evening picnic to enjoy while overlooking the beautiful nature reserve at College Lake.
Simply place your order when you arrive and it will be ready for you when you return from the walk.
Find those clues...
As you head out on the walk itself, you can also take part in a treasure hunt quiz. Find the answers along the route and, just maybe, there will be a prize waiting for the winners at the end.
This fun challenge is in addition to the fabulous views and the bird hide, which will be open for participants to enjoy.
A perfect location
Supporting more than 1,000 different wildlife species, the reserve is the perfect place to explore and an ideal setting for a Naked Heart Walk. The circular, self-guided route follows gentle footpaths and is clearly marked with waymarkers.
You can buy tickets for the event via the Naked Heart Walk tickets page.
But if you can't wait...
If you are eager to get involved sooner, there is another Naked Heart Walk at the Breamore Estate in Hampshire this weekend. The walk circles the historic Breamore House and includes opportunities to visit the farm shop or explore the museum.
Although the weather forecast is not quite on our side for this one, the fact that all Naked Heart Walks are clothing optional means you can still enjoy a wonderful afternoon outdoors without worrying about becoming chilly.
And there's more...
These are not the only opportunities in June. Toward the end of the month we return to the spectacular Himalayan Gardens near Ripon in Yorkshire, and the following day we visit Leonardslee Gardens near Horsham in West Sussex.
What this means is that, wherever you are in the country, there is likely to be an opportunity to visit a fabulous venue within reasonable travelling distance and enjoy it clothes-free while raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
So grab one of these opportunities and let's see if we can make a difference.
