Looking Back at History

We, of course, spend most of our time thinking about the here and now, but there is an incredible history behind Naturism. It has been a visible part of our culture since the post-war era, as people reclaimed their sense of freedom.

Last week, the Southern Daily Echo showcased a story uncovered from its archives about a gathering in Fareham in 1978. Fareham hosted the World Naturist Congress, bringing together representatives from 20 countries and prompting a remarkable response at the time. The Mayor attended and spent the day with Naturists from around the world, demonstrating a level of civic acceptance that was significant for its day.

Moments like these, where we open our doors and the wider world sees that Naturism is an enjoyable, welcoming and respectable way of life, rather than something unusual or misunderstood, remain just as important today as they were in 1978.

So let's celebrate our history, take pride in how far we have come, and continue learning from it.
