The end of the Naked Heart Walk season is now rapidly approaching, with just two opportunities remaining.
On Saturday 5 September, we launch a new opportunity at Telford Naturist Club, the first walk to be held at a club itself.
Then, on Friday 11 September, we wrap up the season with a return to Court Farm Lakes in Gloucestershire.
As we celebrate another exceptional year, it seems a good time to look back and hear about one of the many successes. Tom Endean shares the experience at College Lake in Tring, earlier this year:
The Eastern region returned to College Lake for its second Naked Heart Walk, following the sell-out success of last year. Thanks to being able to schedule the walk earlier in the year, arrange a later finishing time, and offer locally produced food boxes to attendees, the walk was able to achieve even larger attendance numbers, with well over 80 tickets sold.
With the new June time slot, the wildflowers were in full bloom, the birds in full song, and attendees were in full relief that the ominous dark cloud passed by without spoiling their fun. In fact, the whole evening was dry, bright and warm, even as the sun started to fall and people headed home.
The venue is a fabulous nature reserve, with a main route navigating the outside of a large lake, complemented by many little offshoot paths and bird hides to take a rest or simply take in the outstanding views. Such a peaceful and private location made it perfect for this Naked Heart Walk. In fact, some were enjoying the views so much, our trusty volunteers had to do a bit of rounding up to make sure no one was left behind before the gates closed!
We even tested a treasure hunt quiz, with clues and answers to find as you walk around the reserve, and a couple of prizes for our winners at the end. We learnt a lot about how we add these little things in, but most importantly it was done with fun, never detracting from the worthy cause, and the benefit so many get by coming together at British Naturism events.
Importantly, this event generated a significant donation for both the Nature Reserve and the British Heart Foundation, with one very generous individual making a personal donation of £100 to the BHF. As part of the wider calendar of Naked Heart Walks, these events are able to make a huge and real difference to an important charity.
So, if this story inspires you to try a Naked Heart Walk for yourself, get booked into one of the last opportunities for this year or get ready for next year. The 2027 programme is already well into development, and there will be lots to look forward to.
