First Aid Course for new Volunteer First Aiders

We need more First Aiders for regional events so if providing first aid to those who need it is to your liking, why not train to become a volunteer First Aider with British Naturism?

Here’s the deal!  BN will provide you with FREE Emergency First Aid at Work training and you become a First Aid volunteer with BN for three years.

Course Date: Saturday 29 March 2025.

Venue: Ashdene Naturist Club, 500 Elland Road, Halifax HX5 9JB.  The club is located midway between Halifax and Huddersfield with easy access from the M62 and A629.

Time:  Arrival from 09.30am.  The course will run from 10.00am - 5.00pm and will include six hours tuition and a multi-choice written test, and breaks .

Training Provider: 4Minutes First Aid Training will provide an Emergency First Aid at Work course, with first aid manual and e-certificate, valid for three years.

Catering: Refreshments will be provided on arrival and during breaks.  Please bring your own packed lunch.

Dress: Clothes optional.  There will, however, be close contact exercises where participants may prefer to be dressed.

Club Facilities:  Participants will be able to make use of the club’s facilities prior to and after the course.  These include covered heated swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, pavilion and bar.

Accommodation:  If you wish to stay onsite prior to or following the course, the Club has three onsite caravans that can be rented and limited number of pitches for your own Caravan, Motorhome, Camper or Tent.  Overnight accommodation is at your own expense and must be booked online directly with Ashdene Naturist Club at https://www.ashdene.club.  When booking, please advise you are attending the First Aid course as BN will meet the cost of the day fee (Saturday only).

Who is the course for: Potential first aiders who are willing to volunteer in the role for three years after completing the course.  To be a First Aider, you will need to have qualified as a First Aider and be:

  • fit and able to kneel on the ground and (after training) demonstrate CPR and the recovery position
  • have a good understanding of written and spoken English
  • confident in the skills and techniques learnt during first aid training and able to apply these in an emergency situation
  • reliable with attention to detail, especially regarding identifying signs, symptoms and first aid procedures
  • confident in crowds and an ability to take control of situations
  • able to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures, keep a cool head, remember key lifesaving skills in stressful situations and make decisions
  • have good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • have an aptitude and ability to absorb new knowledge and learn new skills.

Time required: Attendance at the course itself (7 hours).  The role typically requires three or more hours for each event, dependent upon its format and length/timing.  Attendance at events will vary according to the availability of post holder and other team members.
