Cambridge WNBR

All `World Naked Bike Rides` are open public access events and the riders participate at their own risk. 

Fundamentally, The WNBR is a world-wide environmental protest, not a naturist event.  It is essentially a political action. 

We advise that people under the age of 18 may not take part in this WNBR protest. (Also see WNBR General Risk Assessment A. B. and Cambridge WNBR Child Policy).  

The number of participants in the Cambridge ride cannot be gauged precisely.  However organisers have long experience of organising such events from scratch and our experience shows that initial ride participation is in the dozens-not hundreds. 

Based on experience from other UK WNBR`s the `average` for a UK WNBR is about 150. A big factor is the weather. 

Also the WNBR Protest rides grow in number each year buy about 25% to 50% on average over the first five years. After five years the rate of growth slows down and stabilizes. 

The World Naked Bike Ride is a worldwide environmental protest against the destructive elements of car culture and a celebration of the bicycle and the body. By cycling naked we show the vulnerability of cyclists on city streets. We aim to promote cycling as a sensible and fun means of transport and demand practical changes to make cycling a safer alternative to car travel. 

In essence such city naked bike rides;  

 1)   Convey the global WNBR protest message of opposition to oil dependency and car culture. 

 2)   Is strictly non-commercial, non-consumption oriented, and has ecologically sound practices. 

 3)   Accepts no financial or material sponsorship from commercial enterprises or political parties. 

 4)   Is open to the general public. 

 5)   Is a celebratory, friendly protest which welcomes everyone. Also see ‘Equality Impact Statement’.

 6)   Is clothing-optional (organisers neither pressure riders to wear clothes nor to disrobe). 

 7)   WNBR does not tolerate aggressive, sexual or predatory behaviour from neither riders, nor the general public.  Marshals will report such conduct/behaviour to the Police. 

 8)   Protests are organised by local people in as inclusive, democratic, and collective manner as possible. 

 9) WNBR minimises protest costs in order to maintain financial sustainability.
