This event is part of Eastbourne Naturist weekend
BN and Eastbourne Naturist Swim Club are pleased to announce a weekend of clothes-optional activities.
Saturday August 11th, 6-8pm
The Towner Gallery in central Eastbourne has agreed to open its doors and play host to a clothes-optional gallery visit. The Towner is an award-winning contemporary art gallery and museum. The state of the art gallery boasts over 1,000 square metres of display space – the largest in South East England. It presents major exhibitions of UK and international contemporary art – and also has a renowned collection of art from across the ages. The new building opened in 2009 and includes shop, café and activity spaces and was designed to be accessible to people with special access needs. Broadcaster David Dimbleby is the chair of the gallery's board of trustees. Tickets available now from the BN shop.
Sunday August 12th
Beach day at Norman’s Bay. This beach at the western end of Bexhill is a quiet, but easily accessible beach being 100 yards from the level crossing at Herbrand Walk, Cooden along the beach at TQ690058 (OS Landranger map 199). It has been used as a Naturist beach for more than 30 years. Cooden station on the Brighton-Hastings line has a regular service. The beach is about a mile from the station. Car parking near the beach can be a problem. The beach is pebbles at the top, with shingle and sand at low tide. At very low tide there is a large expanse of sand, too flat to allow swimming. Because of the flat countryside it can get rather windy so best to bring wind-breaks. There are no dunes.
By the way this is not the place that the Normans invaded in 1066 – it was underwater at the time!
Also in the planning….a Naturist walk on Friday morning and a lunchtime picnic on Saturday.
Eastbourne Naturist Swim Club
…was founded 38 years ago and has swum each season at the Motcombe Swimming Baths in Old Town, Eastbourne. Geoff Tagliaferro is still the chairman after all these years. Last year he commissioned an internet presence for the club and we have attracted many visitors as a result, so the club is healthy and thriving. We organised two beach days last year and started nude yoga nearly a year ago. In April we had our first clothes optional lunch. We join our Naturist friends Stark Trekkers for monthly walks and attend BN events such as the High Beeches visit. Otherwise we can be found relaxing at Birling Gap, Normans Bay or Fairlight Cove improving our tans.
