International Skinny Dip Day and the Great British Synchronised Skinny Dip

Have you ever come to the end of a relaxing, rejuvenating swim, or spent a glorious day at the beach, only to find yourself wrestling with a tight, clingy, and rather unpleasant swimming costume? It rather spoils that post-swim feeling of freedom, doesn't it?

If you've ever thought that, you're certainly not alone. Thousands of people have discovered the simplest solution of all: go without the swimming costume in the first place.

If this is something you’ve ever wondered about, there are two fantastic opportunities coming up.

The first is International Skinny Dip Day on Saturday 11 July. The day celebrates the freedom, body positivity and connection with nature that comes from swimming without a swimsuit. It has become particularly popular with wild swimming groups, many of whom already enjoy skinny dipping, while others use the occasion as the perfect excuse to give it a try for the first time.

If you'd like to swim outdoors but in slightly more contained conditions, we can recommend the South Yorkshire Naturists swim near Helmsley. If you'd prefer to skinny dip under cover, the Wigton Swim in Cumbria is always extremely popular.

Then, the following weekend, things get even bigger. Saturday 18 July sees the return of the Great British Synchronised Skinny Dip, with events taking place all around the country, including:

Apollo Sun Club, Sussex

Ribble Valley Club, near Preston

Mid-Anglia Naturist Swimming Club, Bury St Edmunds

Spectrum, Birmingham

South Forest Naturist Swim, Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire

Petersfield Skinny Dip, Hampshire

As you can see, there are opportunities to take part wherever you are in the country.

Many venues ask participants to book in advance, so now is the perfect time to choose your event and reserve your place.

And the best part? There's one thing you definitely won't need to remember to pack… your swimming costume.
