Sunfolk closed its gates on the summer season last Friday. But there wasn’t a silence there over the weekend, far from it! Volunteers started arriving that evening for the start of the first volunteer working parties of the winter season. This weekend was about clearing overgrown vegetation, leaf, and drainage ditch clearance and a general tidy up.
The laurels were pruned down around the perimeter of all the lawns and a large fire burned ferociously for most of the day. There were lots of leaves to clear, from walkways and car park and from the water drainage ditches.
Mark Walsh, Chris Mills and I coordinated the dozen volunteers who were there for one or two days, some staying overnight in our pods.
As well as clearing up there were some preparations for the new season, next year and for the new BareBnB opportunity for members that launched recently. New festoon lights were installed around the spa area and by the caravan bays. In the Pavilion we created a more homely look with a tv area, games area, including table tennis. The meeting room was transformed into a pool room.
We are always grateful to volunteers who give their time to support our Sunfolk operations and help on these weekends. A couple of them even braved the slightly cooler temperatures and worked without clothes. The hot tub and sauna were available to ease their tired muscles and relax.
