  2. Burrows Gardens in Derbyshire have been open to the public since 2006. Naturist visits started in 2012 and benefitted from being on a Saturday, as the gardens were closed to the public on that day, writes Andrew Davies Craig Dalton took over the farm in the 1980s - the house having been bought by his grandfather in the 1920s. Craig developed the gardens but as it became more difficult to make money out of agriculture, he sold the farm in 2000, enabling him to indulge in what he had always w

  4. For those of you who may have been tempted to join a landed Naturist club but put off a decision out of concerns about high fees – delay no more! Morecambe Bay Naturist Club sits on a 10-acre woodland site, “Silverglades,” near Lancaster, in Lancashire. the Club say: “We are a back-to-basics camping site, which means we do not have services such as gas, electric or mains water. 5. Women in Naturism is an ongoing initiative to try and attract more women into Naturism and to help build body confidence. More men attend events, visit beaches and Naturist holiday resorts, making it appear that Naturism appeals more to men than women, however this is not necessarily the case. Naturism may appeal to a similar number of women but for their own reasons they are reluctant to embrace the lifestyle. The aim of this campaign is to find those reasons and answer the concerns.
  6. As the representative body of Naturism in the UK, British Naturism has a responsibility to promote and protect Naturism. Over the last few years there have been advances that affect our daily lives. The Crown Prosecution Service guidance that nudity is not itself criminal if there is no sexual content or intent has been reinforced by the work of Peter and Christine Wright to have the College of Policing recognise that a police response to Naturism is not necessary and that call centres should be
  7. There is good news from Shaftesbury Lido, where nude swims are hosted by the town council for the 2025 summer season, says BN member Nigel. The plan is to have weekly swims every Tuesday evening once the season begins.  In 2023 the Lido had a Naked Swim once a month; in 2024 it increased to two sessions a month and in 2025, following many requests from our naturist swimmers, it will be a weekly session. The season opening, however, depends on vital improvements to the pool being comple
  8. Right from the outset, one of British Naturism’s aims for Sunfolk was to create a venue that would attract media engagement and allow us to promote the joy, benefits and appeal of Naturism outside our immediate circle.  Within a fortnight of the redeveloped Sunfolk reopening, that activity has resumed in force.  Last week we were joined by a high-profile film crew from Canada who are making a series about nudity around the world.  They spent the day interviewing some volunteers and filming some
  9. Here we are at the beginning of August, with several successful Great British Skinny Dips under our belts. Despite the uncertainties of the past year, the swims have taken off! With interest in the event growing, several venues have held or are hosting their first GBSD this year. Marbury, which had never hosted a dip before, has already had one and has scheduled a second for later this month. Lenches Lakes is a new venue. Wigton’s first swim this month, will be followed with a second one in
  10. As we approach the end of the year, it’s a time to look back at some of the great experiences we will have enjoyed as Naturists and BN members in 2024, and start making plans for 2025. 11. Celebrate World Sand Dune Day - this Saturday, 24 June - by joining us on a walk through the dunes in the Naturist area behind Studland beach, led by National Trust volunteers, to learn about the Dynamic Dunescapes project and see the landscape and its flora and fauna from a new perspective! We’ll hear about how the area is being managed and conserved, and have the chance to remove some invasive mosses under supervision, so if possible bring gardening gloves and a small trowel.  This will be fol
  12. Over the past five years, British Naturism has had the privilege of collaborating with many incredible artists at its events, but every now and then, a relationship evolves into something much deeper.  One such example is the partnership with The Magic Teapot, a collective of artists who have become not only performers but integral members of the Naturist community.  One of the most prominent figures in this group is singer-songwriter Sorrel Nation, whose journey with British Naturism highl

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has made a purchase from the shop in the last 12 months, and everyone who has shared their thoughts on our product range and suggested ideas for new products. We’ve been blown away by the level of interest which has s

British Naturism has been approaching lots of potential new venues, which, alongside our established BN swims, has led to a GBSD calendar that’s positively teeming with dips, with more being added all the time. 19. During Sunday's AGM, Mark Bass, BN President, announced that the Executive Committee had awarded Certificates of Merit to two members.  Such certificates are awarded to people whose contribution to naturism has been found to be exceptional.  This has been the first year when nominations were invited from the wider membership, and thank you to everyone who responded. 20. Each year, we invite nominations for the Merit Awards, which recognise exceptional contributions to British Naturism or Naturism as a whole. These contributions may be sustained over time or more focused and recent, but they all share one common factor: they are exceptional. This year, we awarded five Merit Awards, four of which were presented at the AGM, and one at the EveryBody Festival. Let us applaud these contributors and thank them for their invaluable work.   Nicolas de Cor

Many are holiday resorts whose owners and managers have had a torrid time during the
