  1. One of our most popular and long-running online sessions is the weekly quiz which takes place every Friday evening at 7.30pm. It's a lot of fun and sociable too, with a different quizmaster/mistress each week. Find out more including how to join the session over in the BN shop. There's also a weekly reminder, with a hint about how to be prepared for the questions on the BN members' forum too. This event is for members of British Naturism and other Naturist federations only. If you are
  2. I'm proud of this one. Our subject matter means that it's not difficult for us to get attention paid to our activities and for us to be asked to comment on aspects of society and the stories of the day, and I deal with an average three or four approaches every week across the year. Our subject matter can also make people, authorities and big business nervous which hampers our progress somewhat with many obvious avenues to promotion closed to us. It was particularly pleasing, therefore to be

  6. British Naturism’s Pétanque tournament on 29 April to 2 May drew 21 teams and was a resounding success, Sports Director Ian Munt reports! The tournament is a seven-game, all-inclusive snake with the best two teams progressing to the final. There were five games on the Saturday and two on Sunday, followed by the final. This year it was organised by Barrie and Glynn Widdowson and hosted by Blackthorns Sun Club. Play began under a beautiful sunny sky.  Competition was sometimes fraught -
  7. It's easy to practice social distancing when you are in the UK and the interviewer is in Massachusetts... Here's an interview I did recently for Jon Coleman, the force behind Apocatastasis - an Institute for the Humanities, talking about a wide variety of aspects of Naturism.       Photo by Lee Soo hyun on Unsplash
  8. The BN National Swimming Gala will take place on Saturday 20 April, alongside a new Festival of Sport initiative for non-swimmers including Badminton, Squash & Pickleball. It's not too late to book your place! Unusually, this year the cafe will be open for light refreshments and we have booked a local curry restaurant for after the event! Find all the details here
  9. We're pleased to let you know that the British Naturism National Swimming Gala will take place in Hertfordshire on Saturday 20th April. Booking will be open soon, but please mark your diaries! This year, the swimming competition (for which you can qualify to represent your country!) will also include other activities - our new 'Festival of Sport'. Details will be announced soon.   Image by Mark Berry
  10. We been blown away by the interest that British Naturism members and other Naturists have shown in the BN shop range since we relaunched in late 2020. The level of sales we generated in 2021 exceeded our expectations, and we hope that people are still enjoying and getting good use of the products they have bought so far. We know from your feedback that you’ve really missed the BN towels which used to be a best seller for us. We’ve been working hard to source a new range of towels which are
  11. It's becoming a staple of the British Naturism year - a two night back-to-nature camping break including meditation, walks, skinny dips and live music. Fellfoot Wood is a working woodland and is stunningly beautiful. It is two minutes from the National Trust's Fell Foot Park and the banks of Windermere. We'll take it over for a weekend once again in June 2023. It will be a laid-back affair with a focus on nature, wellness and natural healing - plus there will be live entertainment too.
  12. Join host Helen Berriman, BN's Women's Officer, for a new episode of the podcast from British Naturism, dedicated to celebrating and empowering women in the Naturist community. Our podcast is created by women for women, although we warmly invite men to join us and listen as well. In each episode, we delve into insightful conversations, exploring various aspects of Naturism through the lens of womens' experiences. Whether you are a seasoned Naturist, new to the way of life or just intrigued,
  13. Wishing all the guests at BN's 60th anniversary Jamboree a fabulous time! The venue is a new one to us - Baskerville Hall on the Welsh borders near Hay-on-Wye - and yes, as you may have deduced from the image, it is the place that inspired Conan-Doyle's famous Sherlock Holmes story... It's a packed programme of activity including live music, murder mystery evening, comedy, quiz, talks, crafts, and games and sports. Trips off the site include canoeing (sadly, not naked) down the nearby River
  14. British Naturism is an organisation run and managed by volunteers. We pay a few people to devote time to ensuring that specialist areas of our operation run smoothly and that value members receive for their subscriptions is kept high. Day to day, however, it is people giving their time and energy for the love of it that makes things happen from the senior echelons of the Executive Committee to the people who run sessions at events. We acknowledged a while ago that we need more volunteers an
  15. British Naturism is a largely voluntary organisation with contributions ranging from assisting at events, to contributing to campaigns, to acting as Directors of the company. Many people will be aware of the work being done, under the guidance of John Gelder, to develop a carefully constructed strategy to support and make best use of volunteers. A very large number of members provided feedback on the draft strategy, proving how highly volunteers are regarded. At the EC meeting this week, we
  16. Yogis! How are we all doing? Nights are drawing in, getting a bit chillier, but we're still here for you!  Missing some of your lovely faces as of late, hope I haven't offended you. Please do keep coming to classes and supporting us, I know life is back to normal for most but it would be a shame to loose this lovely community we have built online over the last 2 1/2 years. Still 5 classes on each week for you to come to:  Chair - seated or standing using your chair for suppor
  17. We are very pleased to introduce Maz Wallace as our newly-appointed Equality and Diversity officer. As a minority group, Naturists know full well the harm that can be caused by discrimination and British Naturism must work equally hard to treat all other groups with respect. With that in mind, we published our Equality and Diversity policy in January and created a new EC position of Equality and Diversity Officer to recognise the importance of this issue and lead us forward. Maz’s experienc
  18. Andrew and Sarah Anderson get active on the BN Members’ Holiday to Fuerteventura "I'm going to be first in the water" says Jonathan as he rises and makes his way across the deck.  ‘We'll see about that.’ thought Andrew.  Being naked already, all there is to do is get up and leap off the back of "Love Boat II" into the clear blue waters off Isla Los Lobos.  It's January 2018 but the water is at least as warm as the south of England on a hot August day.  Captain David gives us chunks of bread
  19. Who's got the perfect body?  a) everyone? b) no-one? Both answers are correct! Whatever our own hang-ups, lumps and bumps and worries about what we look like, we're all normal human beings. Being in the company of naked people allows you to see that we're all different and improves how you feel about yourself. Recent scientific research even confirms it. A lack of body confidence and the resulting low self-esteem is a big problem for the world at large, with people spending f
  20. Wishing all guests a great time at the 'Best of British' Naturist weekend at the Suncliff hotel in Bournemouth - our first big event of the year! An awesome weekend awaits with entertainment with a British pop focus and activities during the day. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, sauna, squash courts, mini gym, dance and fitness studio and plenty of space to dance and party! Stop Press: Two rooms have become available! 21. Tickets have been selling well for this inaugural Saturday night social - don't miss out! Full menu and bar available - and plenty of good, nude company! Find out everything you need to know here
  22. It’s No Bra Day in America — which we definitely support (no pun intended). But more importantly, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many women miss screenings out of embarrassment — one of the tragedies of the cultural modesty we’ve used to trap ourselves. We all have bodies. Half of us are women. Every one of us should be comfortable getting the check-ups we need, regardless of sex. This is where Naturism can make a real difference to physical health. When we learn to be comfortable in our
  23. We enjoyed another fabulous Naked Heart Walk and Great British Skinny Dip  at the Water’s Edge, Bishampton on Sunday with over 50 people attending in the amazing  Worcestershire sunshine for the 2nd year in succession, raising valuable funds for our charity partner the British Heart Foundation. It was a privilege once again to be able to hire this supportive venue for the twin events which never fail to attract ‘Newbies’ and Sunday was no exception. Amongst the new to Naturism guests was Ch
  24. Sometimes events just click, they just work.  That is precisely what happened with our Bournemouth event this weekend.  From the characterful hotel to the excellent food where the hotel served 200 guests a high standard three-course meal within a two-hour window with no fuss or waiting.  From the craft sessions to the first British Naturism squash tournament that we expect to become an annual part of the British Naturism sporting calendar.  From scheduled sessions such as an improv workshop to s
  25. Our massive events programme gets underway tomorrow with our 'Decades of Dance' weekend in Bournemouth at the Suncliff Hotel. As with all our events - even in the winter - guests can spend the entire weekend without clothes. They can also expect a full programme of daytime activities and nightly entertainment. It's a perfect cure for the winter blues. It's an event - like most BN events - that has been sold out for ages. Check out the full programme of events for 2023 and make sure you
