BBC launches new podcast about body image and nudity - with naked reporters Jenny Eells and Kat Harbourne, reporters at BBC Radio Sheffield, are baring all in an innovative series of podcasts for the BBC. The two women (pictured) want to explore issues around body image and nudity to find out why people are so prudish about their bodies and why many people, particularly women, aren’t more body confident. By recording each episode naked they encourage a more open conversation with their gues

The only thing better than curling up with a good book is discussing it with your friends. And how much better it would be to discuss it with your Naturist friends! We're pleased to announce a new online session - the BN Book Club, which will meet (virtually) every other Tuesday. There is no set book, but we will be discussing whatever novels, non-fiction, or graphic novels you have enjoyed recently and share recommendations. It starts next week, June 23rd. Please make sure you book yo

Did you know there is a pub where all the customers are encouraged to be naked? In fact, on a Friday night, you'll actually find that they all happen to be Naturists as well. How cool is that? What a great crowd to be part of! Also, you'll never have to queue at the bar, nor be overcharged for your drinks and you're welcome to get refills whenever you like. I'd like to say that it's a place that is right up your street, but the best part is that you don't even have to go that far. Book you

The National Trust are stewards for over 500 historic houses and gardens, 250,000 hectares of land and 780 miles of coastline, making them arguably the largest leisure influencer in the UK. British Naturism has a productive history of cooperation with National Trust locations such as Studland beach or Scotney Castle in Kent. The National Trust are committed to providing equal access and enjoyment to everyone, and attempt to support all groups equally. While the Trust is overseen by a centra

We have a big year of Naturist sport ahead of us with swimming, petanque, volleyball, squash and golf all on the schedule. Perhaps even more exciting are the series of sports taster days at clubs around the country so there are opportunities to sample an activity you hadn’t even considered without having to travel the length of the country. Travel isn’t necessarily a bad thing if the destination is suitably appealing and that is where the program really comes into its own with a series of spor

Hundreds of BN members have already taken advantage of the opportunities for free exercise and entertainment from our online events programme. Yoga classes, fitness, a cookery demonstration and a discussion forum have already taken place. We're growing the programme all the time and you can expect to see new classes announced very soon. One new class we can announce is 'Dry Aquarobics' on Saturday afternoon. It's aquarobics without the water! Unless, you have the luxury of a pool of your ow

Almost 500 naked guests filled Splash Landings Hotel and Waterpark at Alton Towers last weekend - and had blast! There were stretch classes, yoga, guided tours of the Alton Towers gardens, crafts, indoor archery, life drawing, body painting, waterpolo, aquarobics, a mad quiz and even madder bingo! Zoo Lab brought snakes and other creatures and got up close and personal with us and we danced the night away to live music. Best of all was the joy of being amongst our wonderful, relaxed communi

Nudity everywhere, beaches, clubs, TV, film, magazines, absolutely everywhere is under a growing threat. Body-knowledge, body-honesty and body-acceptance, anything to do with the human body is under attack like never before, Mary Whitehouse included. The government, or more accurately an influential part of the government, are pursuing the "prudification of society" like no government that I can remember and they are being a lot more subtle about it than Mary Whitehouse. Much of the activit

Last year was an incredible year for British Naturism. We reached membership milestones, engineered a breakthrough with the police, saw a record turnout for GBSD, enjoyed new events, gained new venues and massive media coverage, kicked off a new strategy process, appointed a new Volunteer Co-ordinator and developed our YBN community. Phew! But, let’s be honest: last year’s success is last year’s news. At BN we’re all about looking towards the future which is much more exciting because toget

Did anybody catch Coran Elliott’s article regarding the growth of BN’s membership in The Telegraph this weekend? The article is just one of a growing number of positive pieces regarding naturism and the fact that public nudity is becoming increasingly more socially accepted and openly acknowledged. Indeed, the journalist’s approach to the story is itself indicative of the maturity with which the topic is being treated. The focus of the article concerns the growth in BN membership figures –

Two cases in the last couple of months have highlighted the value of being a BN Member and the work done over the years by the BN legal Team in clarifying the law in relation to nudity in public. There is, however, still some way to go in order for that information to reach all police officers, writes BN Vice Chair, Colin Ratcliff One member had four separate visits from Gloucestershire police officers regarding standing just outside his house to smoke while naked (not a recommended activit

The purpose of British Naturism is to protect and promote Naturism. Such a simple statement is easy to communicate but lacks the specific detail we need to guide our activities. We can expand on the sentiment by defining both the overall Vision and more detailed Mission of British Naturism as follows: British Naturism Vision Statement The Vision of British Naturism is that: Naturism is widely accepted throughout the UK. The benefits of Naturism are understood and the opportuniti

Another busy night at Stoke Waterworld on Saturday saw over 300 Naturists gathering for a night of waterpark madness. A good night was had by all with one of the youngest turnouts BN has ever had! YBN were out in force. A good number of families showed up too, and Waterworld doesn’t disappoint with a great mix of slides, play areas and 'tough mudder’-esque monkey bars and leaping lillypads! There really is something for everyone including those who just want to relax and enjoy a drink and f

It’s been quite a few days for the promotion of Naturism in the media and the activities of British Naturism and some its members has been at the forefront of it. Ok, so there isn’t a huge amount of news around at the moment and the media are looking for ways to divert and entertain their readers, but all the same, it’s great they choose to focus on the nude world. The two main items were Pam Fraser’s interview published and lavishly illustrated in The Sun in which she promoted her rol

Naturists regularly tell us how much they love the peace and self confidence they find in nude recreation once they try it. The challenge is how we help others searching for such things to find Naturism. Similarly, many people are curious about Naturism but have questions they are too embarrassed to ask. To address these needs, we have launched “TheNakedTruth” social media video campaign. These soundbites cover the fun and the benefits to be found in Naturism, answer commonly asked questio

Over the last two months, TheNakedTruth campaign has focused on one of the most pressing issues facing young women today: body confidence and the devastating impact it can have on mental health. With more than 1 in 5 young women now affected by eating disorders (NHS Data, 2023), this is not a problem we can afford to ignore. To help bring these issues into the spotlight, we’ve welcomed two powerful new voices to TheNakedTruth team. Saoirse, 21, attended her first Naturist event at the end of M

In the spring, we launched TheNakedTruth, a campaign aimed at raising awareness of Naturism through short soundbite videos shared on social media. The initiative was spearheaded by Claire, our lead interviewer, who graced the cover of our latest magazine and has truly immersed herself in the project. Over the past six months, we’ve spoken to a variety of people, covering topics such as personal testimonies, the benefits of Naturism, details about events, and answers to frequently asked questio

Mike ‘Mupp’ Watson tracks his journey from newbie to nudie ‘Try it for the first time,’ they said. But just how many firsts are there? Well let me tell you, there have been many, so many, read on… The Beginning My first time ever was a naked swim at Chepstow with the Western Swim Club, over three years ago now.
