Most readers will be familiar with Studland beach, whether they are lucky enough to be habitués, occasional visitors or have it on their bucket (and spade) list, given that it is often highlighted as one of the best-known (or often, best), Naturist beaches in the country. Of course that is highly subjective, and obviously I am biased, and very fortunate to have Studland on my doorstep! writes Howard Dymock Last summer the ‘Future Studland’ survey was commissioned by the National Trust to take a

This Halloween, don't be grim, reap the benefits of a naturist break at SANER's Halloween Gathering - BN members from all regions welcome. Enjoy the devilishly good Naturist entertainment and events. Our final itinerary is yet to be finalised, however, what's for certain is that you'll be enjoying a monster mash-up of a Halloween disco. At some point, maybe venture out (with clothes, sadly) to discover the local history of Stirling and its famous castle. Since the event was launched in Ma

Over Halloween, more than 90 guests attend SANER’s annual event ‘The Gathering’ in the historic city of Stirling at the King Robert hotel, writes Danny Callaghan. It’s on the site of the Battle of Bannockburn (1314), a date most Scots remember when we had a historic victory of the Auld Enemy the English. However this time no skirmishes were reported and our English guests returned home tired, happy but unscathed. The event saw ghosts, ghouls and witches and pumpkins galore. A real scary si

This year the wildly popular event heads to the historic City of Stirling, with its magnificent castle (pictured), around 30 minutes north of Glasgow, to the King Robert Hotel, which is next to the Battle of Bannockburn battlefield, a lovely modern hotel.

I’ve got nothing on today, how about you? #greatbritishtakeoff And so the day arrives! Today’s the day that we encourage everyone to strip down to nothing to enjoy the liberated and exhilarating feeling that comes from being naked. If you can do it in the fresh air and sunshine then that’s great. If not, whack up the heating and do it indoors… We’ve loved the attention! The British media have not hesitated to promote this event far and wide. We’ve appeared on TV, contributed

A report on the highlights from around the country - thanks to everyone who took part in 2017! It was going to be a hard act to follow when running year two of The Great British Skinny Dip - after all there was no TV crew this year for a start! So, how would the campaign fare, free from the harsh spotlight of TV interest? Pretty well actually, for those venues who took part! For a start, the weather was generally far more in our favour than in 2016, and there was a much more sustained 'buz

What with being on holiday in Italy (where I snuck in a cheeky skinny dip!), I hadn’t checked out the GBSD calendar for several weeks. When I did, I discovered there are events lined up well into December. Wouldn’t it be great if there could be, say, one giant, nationwide Boxing Day or New Year’s Day dip? A dream too far...? Before we look at what’s coming up, a few thoughts: First, the Wirral Naturist Club/GBSD Women Only, Clothing-Optional Skinny Dip on 29 October: Could I urge those

We've had a great season in 2021 for the Great British Skinny Dip, with many new venues hosting costume-free swims. And they were so popular that there will be regular skinny dips at some of them in 2022! We'll bring you a full report and update soon. ...but before we do, we're looking forward to what might be the last official GBSD event of the year, at Bramcote run by the South Yorkshire Naturists - tomorrow at 7:30pm 23/10/2021. See you there!

5 Months to Go… It’s always difficult, isn’t it, when an annual event comes and goes and we’re left having to wait an entire 12 months until it rolls round again? Like Christmas, Pancake Day or the Wimbledon finals it feels only natural to wish for 12 months to become, say, 10, or nine. Did you feel that way about The Great British Skinny Dip? Did you wish hard? Someone must have because even though it was four months ago there are only 5 months left before it’s back again. GBSD is moving t

If there was ever a great time to plan/attend a Great British Skinny Dip, this is it. Some of you may have hesitated to jettison your clothes and leap into a pool, lido, a river, the sea or some other suitable, safe venue out of fear of developing goose bumps. Fear no longer! Enjoy the feel of cool water on your naked skin on a hot day. Looking for somewhere to dip? Why not try one of these? 21 July Race Hub

We're delighted to announce a date for another skinny dip in Northern Ireland. Last summer, between 80 - 100 people gathered on the two mile golden sand beach at Portstewart Strand raising over £1700 for the British Heart Foundation (NI). Such was the success that the event is being repeated on the 4th September - so you have plenty of time to plan, to raise money and to encourage your friends to get involved! The GBSD schedule for 2022 is already building, with many dips already arra

The Great British Spring Clean is taking place this spring from 20 March to 13 April 2020. It is being organized by Keep Britain Tidy in association with the Daily Mail, amongst other partners. I casually tweeted about naturists taking part in the Great British Spring Clean (#GBSpringClean) because we naturists love our environment and we share the responsibility for looking after it with our clothed neighbours. However, the tweet was spotted by a journalist from the Daily Mail newspaper who con

Now in its 10th year, I'm sure everyone is familiar with British Naturism's outreach project The Great British Skinny Dip! We always make a big splash (pardon the pun) in the media with this fun event that captures the public's imagination and welcome many newcomers to swims up and down the country. Often journalists ask 'When's it on?', expecting there to be a one-off dedicated date for costume-free swimming but a Great British Skinny Dip can take place at any time across the whole year, whenev

Guernsey was the location for the first Channel Islands' event for the Great British Skinny Dip (GBSD) and was a terrific success. Fifty dippers, mostly women, enjoyed an exhilarating time at L’Ancresse Bay, raising £5,000 in the process - and are now eagerly exploring the possibility of a monthly nude swim on the island. Money was raised for two local charities - Pink Ladies (Breast Cancer) and Mug (Testicular Cancer) as well as the GBSD's British Heart Foundation. Interest in th

‘If someone had told me I would be writing this article a couple years ago I would have thought they were pulling my leg. My partner Laura and I have never been traditional and like to think we are open minded, however organising a naked wedding for ourselves is a wholly unexpected experience,’ says Steven Sandilands. We have been trying to find the perfect time to get married for a decade now. Between health issues, lockdowns and all of life's other distractions it never seemed the right

On the 7th December 2021, the Law Commission published the final report on the Hate Crime consultation, along with their recommendations to parliament for amendments to legislation. British Naturism have been major stakeholders throughout the process, contributing through both the pre-consultation and consultation phases. Author of the British Naturism submissions, President, Mark Bass points out that: “The founding principle of Naturism is respect; respect for ourselves and respect f

Back in May, we brought you the news that for the first time in a few years, there was going to be a central London Naturist swim! At the time of the launch, the swim took place on a Sunday, but such was the popularity, Saturday night was soon added. I caught up with organiser and host Paul who told me 'The swim is doing ok and picking up after the expected quieter time over the summer. There is a huge trend to book last minute which can be a little disconcerting but we we get there on the day!

BBC launches new podcast about body image and nudity - with naked reporters Jenny Eells and Kat Harbourne, reporters at BBC Radio Sheffield, are baring all in an innovative series of podcasts for the BBC. The two women (pictured) want to explore issues around body image and nudity to find out why people are so prudish about their bodies and why many people, particularly women, aren’t more body confident. By recording each episode naked they encourage a more open conversation with their gues

The only thing better than curling up with a good book is discussing it with your friends. And how much better it would be to discuss it with your Naturist friends! We're pleased to announce a new online session - the BN Book Club, which will meet (virtually) every other Tuesday. There is no set book, but we will be discussing whatever novels, non-fiction, or graphic novels you have enjoyed recently and share recommendations. It starts next week, June 23rd. Please make sure you book yo

Did you know there is a pub where all the customers are encouraged to be naked? In fact, on a Friday night, you'll actually find that they all happen to be Naturists as well. How cool is that? What a great crowd to be part of! Also, you'll never have to queue at the bar, nor be overcharged for your drinks and you're welcome to get refills whenever you like. I'd like to say that it's a place that is right up your street, but the best part is that you don't even have to go that far. Book you
