  1. Symbols matter. We all know that one of the things we value most as members is the sense of community, support and friendship we find in British Naturism. At an official event, there is a relaxed atmosphere and a sense of trust because we know that the people around us share our views and values. But what happens in other settings? How do we recognise fellow members who might welcome a cheerful hello? How do we find others from our community? And, in the worst-case scenario, how do we know who w
  2. For most of us, summer means sunshine. It means getting outside, feeling the warmth on our skin and making the most of those precious long, bright days. For Naturists, that connection with the outdoors can be even more important. But how much thought do we really give to the sun? In the Summer issue of BN Magazine, British Naturist member Iain shared the deeply personal story of his experience with skin cancer — from a childhood and early adulthood spent chasing the perfect tan, through multiple
  3. September is here, the leaves are starting to turn golden brown and the British summer is beginning to fade. But who says your Naturist season has to end? If you’re heading to Vera Playa, you can keep the sunshine going with British Naturism’s brand-new Run to the Sun initiative, bringing members together from 14 September for a week of friendship, fun, fitness and adventure. Vera Playa is already a favourite destination for British Naturists at this time of year, but holidays can sometimes me
  4. British Naturism recently invited all our members to complete a survey and give their views on several aspects of the organisation. The aim was simple: to provide a genuine, unfiltered picture of what our members actually want from their organisation. That is crucial. It is easy for leaders to develop their own ideas about what is best and then push those ideas forward. But an organisation like British Naturism belongs to its members, and the only way we can properly understand what people want
  5. Brocken Hurst, home of the Naturist Foundation, has something special coming up on Saturday 12 September, with two very different events taking place on the same day. During the daytime, it’s time to get active with the BH5K Naked 5K Run. Participants will be arriving throughout the morning, with the race getting underway at 11:30am. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or simply fancy taking on the challenge, it’s a great way to enjoy the grounds and get moving. Then, as the sun goes down, the mood
  6. The end of the Naked Heart Walk season is now rapidly approaching, with just two opportunities remaining. On Saturday 5 September, we launch a new opportunity at Telford Naturist Club, the first walk to be held at a club itself. Then, on Friday 11 September, we wrap up the season with a return to Court Farm Lakes in Gloucestershire. As we celebrate another exceptional year, it seems a good time to look back and hear about one of the many successes. Tom Endean shares the experience at College Lak
  7. Could Fuerteventura be the perfect introduction to Naturism? From a secluded villa overlooking volcanic landscapes to the vast sandy beaches of the island’s southern coast, this Canary Island offers a wonderfully relaxed approach to being unclothed outdoors. In our Summer Magazine, one of our members shared their experience of discovering the island and finding a comfortable balance between privacy, Naturism and the more informal beach culture of Fuerteventura. With nudity commonplace on many be
  8. On Sunday, the BBC published an excellent article discussing how public nudity can make us feel better about our bodies. Led by Kerem Soylemez, assistant professor of psychology at Regent's University London, and Marina Rachitskiy, senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Roehampton, the article draws on interviews with British Naturism members Linda Ashmore, Martha Vickery and Women’s Officer Helen Berriman to discuss how taking their clothes off has helped people overcome body dysmor
  9. The sun has set on EveryBody 2026 and we have all gone home, feeling a little bit sad that it is finished for another year. Not only was this year an early sell-out, making it the most successful yet, but the range of people involved tells its own tale. We welcomed guests from Germany, Switzerland, Poland and America, showing that this is an event people travel for. EveryBody Festival has been growing and going from strength to strength each year, and this one did not disappoint. The Captain’s B
  10. Through August, there have been a series of marches for Go Topless Day. Some of the biggest ones took place this weekend, while the Brighton protest took place a week ago. The campaign challenges gender inequality and the differences in restrictions placed on male and female bodies. Maureen attended the Brighton march and tells her tale: I found this protest back in 2021 when I was visiting Brighton. Unfortunately, I've not managed to return since, as it's always held in August every year and th
  11. You might be excused for thinking that Naturist activities are winding down now that summer is drawing to a close. But that’s not entirely true! There are still plenty of things on the horizon, and some of them are quite spectacular. Saturday 22 August – Hawkstone Park Follies Naked Heart Walk As soon as this weekend, there’s a chance to get out into the countryside, explore a spectacular new venue and raise money for the British Heart Foundation at the same time. Hawkstone Park Follies is a fas
  12. After 90 years, Broadland Sun has plenty of history to celebrate. But one of the country’s oldest Naturist clubs is just as interested in what comes next. For the club, the future of Naturism depends on ensuring that people of all ages can discover the simple pleasures of enjoying the outdoors, meeting friends and being comfortable in their own skin. That means welcoming new visitors, encouraging younger people and families, and making sure everyone feels safe, respected and at home. Broadland S
  13. In a new story for Psychology Today, psychologist Amy Campbell allows her professional work to intersect with her own experience as she explores her lack of self-confidence and her relationship with her body. Like many women, Amy was exposed from an early age to both the oppression and objectification of her body by male peers. Comments about women’s bodies, whether judgemental or sexual, are so commonplace that they can barely register as wrong. More broadly, we have learned to assume that nake
  14. The EveryBody Festival starts on Thursday, and what an event it is going to be! We kick off on Thursday with the chaos you would expect from Captain Amy of BareBumBoaty fame, before handing over to our first live band of the event, The Captain’s Beard. This pirate folk-rock band are the essence of what EveryBody is all about. I’m guessing people will be going all-in with the pirate accessories to get into the spirit. Rae will be setting the standard, although she doesn’t know that yet! 🏴‍☠️ Fr
  15. Yesterday, The Metro published a great account from British Naturism member Tony Macinnes about his life as a Naturist. It offers a powerful and positive insight into what Naturism is, what it is not, and the importance of respecting one another, both within the Naturist community and beyond. Tony’s story is a wonderful example of what makes the Naturist community so special, and of what we can all achieve by simply sharing our own experiences. You don’t need to be an official spokesperson or an
  16. Well, the breaking news in my world is that the Autumn magazine is now complete and will soon be off to the printers. So that’s the end of the summer season, right? Wrong! As this scorching summer shows no sign of letting up, there is still so much to come. Big Events The EveryBody Festival is now less than a week away and sold out quite a while ago, but the waterpark visit in Poole on 22 August is still on sale, so join us there if you can. For those heading to EveryBody, we’re adding some dron
  17. Shaftesbury Council who run Dorset’s only Lido have offered Naked Swims for over 10 years in the characterful, historic pool heated to 29C. Built in 1831, ‘the tank’ as it was known, provided water for the people of Shaftesbury until the 1890s when it became a swimming pool. As the Naked Swims have become more popular, the Council have been happy to respond. A few years ago, the hour-long session happened once a month, then it was twice a month, then from 2025, weekly Naked Swims were held on Tu
  18. We have all seen the dreadful news reports of uncontrolled fires in the UK and abroad following an exceptionally hot and dry summer. Yesterday, one such fire broke out close to Diogenes Sun Club. Thankfully, this time there was some good news too: Diogenes was able to play a vital role in helping the fire service tackle the blaze. Andy Cross reports: “On August 12th, members of Diogenes were enjoying another tranquil and sun-soaked day in the heatwave when fire broke out at the farm next door to

It is one of the most successful ways we have of sharing information, connecting p

Joining it is "Nudist on a Break", a playful celebration of the irony behind a clothing range created especially for Naturists. Both d

Victoria also discusses using her own body in art and political protest, including her rec
  24. As the summer continues to blaze, one of the hottest (literally) locations in the UK continues to be British Naturism: Sunfolk. Although fully prepared for inclement weather, it feels a long time since that has been necessary. Instead we see visitors basking on the sunbathing lawns, shade from the woodland canopy has been needed more than shelter from rain, the pool has been as important for cooling off as for getting some exercise, and the artisan ice cream has been in high demand. Because visi
  25. The best thing about the EveryBody Festival isn't the programme – it's the people who bring it to life. While there's plenty to see and do throughout the weekend, for many people it's the Naturism itself and the sense of community that make a Naturist festival so special. With EveryBody now less than a month away, let's look at some of the ways you can help shape the festival while supporting Naturism at the same time. One of the greatest strengths of EveryBody is that it brings hundreds of Natu
