On a mild October night, forty members and guests arrived to warm greetings from some of the BN SW team and Ed, the owner, and his staff, an event that had been some considerable time in gestation, the idea having emerged in a chance conversation over a year ago between a couple of members attending the Bournemouth weekend and Ed, the owner of Flirt café-bar, a vibrant and inclusive venue in the centre of town, writes Howard Dymock.
Welcome drinks collected from the bar, the quirky but comfortable seating leant itself to mixing and socialising, perhaps in contrast to slightly more conventional table arrangements at formal naked dining events. Quiz teams formed naturally and conversation flowed freely, as meal orders were efficiently served, before our host opened proceedings. Full credit to Ed for embracing the spirit of the event by stripping off himself, bar a half-apron!
Varied and challenging rounds of quiz questions followed with plenty of head-scratching, sharing of ideas and lively comments. My contribution of a Naturist-themed round proved especially challenging, although in my defence all the answers are on the BN website!
Regular breaks in the quiz gave participants the chance to circulate and chat, whilst refilling glasses or ordering coffees and cake. Ed generously donated a £50 voucher to the winners in a closely-fought but humorous competition. All too soon it was time to grab a group photo as a memory of an enjoyable and novel evening, and one which we hope can become a regular fixture.
