Help us Make Issue 250 of BN Magazine one to Remember

Hopefully the autumn edition of BN Magazine has been landing on your doormat this weekend. If you’ve had a chance to browse it, you’ll already know that we’re looking ahead to the winter edition.

And this one is going to be a big one.

The winter edition will be issue 250. That’s a remarkable milestone for a quarterly magazine, and a testament to the longevity of both BN Magazine and British Naturism itself.

You may also have noticed a slight change in focus in the autumn edition, with more space dedicated to members’ stories and a different approach to reporting events. Rather than simply telling you what the organisers say happened, we want to hear about events from the people who were actually there.

That change comes directly from the recent all-member survey. You told us that you wanted more member voices, more personal experiences and more stories from within our community. We listened. Now we want to deliver.

We want to hear from you

You don’t have to be an author. You don’t even have to think of yourself as a writer. Send us your story in whatever form works for you and we can do as much or as little editing as needed.

What matters is that it is your experience, your perspective and your voice.

Here are just a few ideas to get you thinking:

1. Personal stories
How did you discover Naturism? How has Naturism affected your life? Do you have a funny, memorable or unexpected Naturist anecdote? These are experiences that many of us can relate to, and if you have a story to tell, people will want to hear it.

2. Travel stories
Travel was a particularly strong request in the survey. That includes Naturist holidays overseas, but stories of a trip or somewhere new you discovered in the UK would be a change from what we have done in the past and could be really interesting. Tell us what you discovered and what made it memorable.

3. Community and friendship
The aspect of membership people said they value most is the community and friendship they have found through British Naturism. Do you have a great story about getting together with friends? Have you organised something different? Perhaps you’ve come up with an ingenious new idea for a dinner party!

There are plenty of other possibilities, too. Nothing is off the table. These are simply the areas members have told us they would particularly like to see more of.

And don’t forget the pictures

Photos can bring a story to life. We can find suitable images from our photo library, but pictures that are directly connected to your story are even better. So if you have photographs that help tell the story, please send those too.

The deadline

The deadline for submissions for the winter edition is 15 October.

But don’t be discouraged if that feels too soon. I’m already thinking about the spring edition, so ideas and stories can always be carried forward.

If you already know what you want to write, get started! There’s no reason to wait. If you’d like to discuss an idea first, just drop me an email and we can talk it through.

Either way, send your ideas and submissions to:

magazine@bn.org.uk

Let’s make issue 250 a suitably impressive celebration of the people who have made BN Magazine what it is and the community that has kept British Naturism going for so many years.
