Events this weekend - and beyond! - About BN

After a busy double bank holiday weekend last week, a whole work week seems a little harder than usual! t is a good job that there are a lot of dates on the calendar for this week.

You’ll find there are plenty of walks planned for this week, including near Ackling Dyke, Salisbury hosted by Natram. Later in the week Natram and BN’s LASER region will host an 11 mile walk around Dunbridge, prior to a dinner and skittles event. A walk in Steeple Claydon will be hosted by the Eastern region and Milton Keynes, MaG on Friday and next Tuesday, the North West region are hosting a walk in the Lake District, prior to the Great British Skinny Dip at Shap Lido.

Talking of GBSDs, the programme is getting busier - we’ve added more dips this week. This weekend sees the first of this year’s events at Shap Lido, which will be repeated each month. We are especially proud of this relationship as it is Shap Lido themselves who are hosting this GBSD. Three Rivers outdoor club will host their second of three swims in the Elswick pool, Newcastle and the second clothing optional/Naturist open water swim at Race Hub at Six Hills, Leicestershire takes place on Thursday evening. In the next little while, do make plans to attend GBSD events at Wigton, Spectrum, Northampton, Bude, Morfa Dyffryn and Peterborough Lido. You’ll find all the details on the Great British Skinny Dip website - choose a list or calendar view and scroll down to see the UK-wide map. There are plenty of regular swims too, week in, week out.

If wandering around a garden naked is your thing then you’re in luck with many opportunities coming up. Next week there’s Houghton Lodge Gardens in Hampshire - another event that is run by the venue - well done to them! The café and terrace will be open for the evening. In Shropshire, we have a visit to the Dorothy Clive Gardens and in Derbyshire, Burrows Gardens. The Café will be open to serve tea, coffee, cakes, etc. at Fullers Mill Garden in Suffolk. Alnwick in Northumberland is owned by the Duchess of Northumberland, who previously endorsed our visit. The amazing water features give you the chance to be a kid again and play in them - this alone has me booking my place!

Next weekend brings us three chances to camp naked. Liverpool Sun and Air Society invites ALL members of British Naturism/ to Midsummer Fest. Tents, caravans, motorhomes, and day visitors are welcome. Rosslyn Naturists clothing-optional Week also returns, in Norfolk - you can bring tents, caravans, motor homes or hire one of the shepherd's huts. Mournes Bunkhouse Weekend, in Ireland returns - a chance for a dip or a walk outdoors, in Northern Ireland. Tents and Glamping tents are available.

This year’s crop of World Naked Bike rides (WNBR) are starting to appear. WNBR is a global protest movement with rides in cities around the world, raising awareness of issues such as safety of cyclists on the road, reducing oil dependence and saving the planet. But it also celebrates Body Freedom - and can be the best fun you can ever have on two wheels. As the great Freddy Mercury sang, get on your bike and ride. I cannot wait to see what amazing photos and body art appear on the member’s gallery shortly from the riders!
