Thirty-seven nudies braved 16-degree water Sunday evening (22 August) for the second Marbury Park Swimming Pool Great British Skinny Dip! A few weeks ago, Marbury pool had never hosted a costume-free swim - now it has hosted two. It's testament to how - rather like skinny-dipping individuals - once tried, you can't wait to do it again, despite all the fears and hesitations beforehand.
The pool, set in beautiful grounds near Northwich, Cheshire, has two diving boards which, as one newbie dipper noted, you don’t see that often these days. She and several others took full advantage of them. Some also enjoyed the poolside BBQ grill and picnic tables. We warmed up on hot drinks from the conveniently located snack shack.
The event drew Naturists from far and wide in the North West. One BN member from Ellesmere Port said he was “delighted to be here” and “came on spec because of the weather.” Unusually, the weather held!
This was a time to renew acquaintances. Dave and I met a friend from the Wirral Naturist Club to which we had once belonged as well as someone we’d met at the Morfa Dyffryn skinny dip. Our guest, who was taking part in a Naturist event for the first time, ran into someone she met on a skiing trip several years ago. There’s a wonderful sense of community at clothes-free events. Conversation flows freely because we’re all doing something we enjoy.
