DESCRIPTION:\n	Knepp is a 3\,500 acre estate just south of Horsham\, Wes
t Sussex. Since 2001\, the land – once intensively farmed - has been dev
oted to a pioneering rewilding project. Using grazing animals as the drive
rs of habitat creation\, and with the restoration of dynamic\, natural wat
er courses\, the project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife. Ext
remely rare species like turtle doves\, nightingales\, peregrine falcons a
nd purple emperor butterflies are now breeding here\; and populations of m
ore common species are rocketing.\n\n\n\n	The vision of the Knepp Wildland
Project is radically different to conventional nature conservation in tha
t it is not driven by specific goals or target species. Instead\, its driv
ing principle is to establish a functioning ecosystem where nature is give
n as much freedom as possible. The aim is to show how a ‘process-led’
approach can be a highly effective\, low-cost method of ecological restora
tion - suitable for failing or abandoned farmland - that can work to suppo
rt established nature reserves and wildlife sites\, helping to provide the
webbing that will one day connect them together on a landscape scale.\n\n
\n\n	Join us on a guided walking tour and experience the profusion of b
	irds\, mammals\, butterflies\, beetles\, reptiles\, plants and fungi in a
setting that feels as wild and dynamic as the African bush. Exploring Kne
pp on foot gives you the greatest opportunity to soak up the sounds and si
ghts of the rewilding project. Heading into the wildland at a gentle pace\
, you will have plenty of time to take in our astonishing wildlife – fro
m herds of free-roaming longhorn cattle\, red and fallow deer\, Exmoor pon
ies and Tamworth pigs\, to delicate butterflies and dragonflies.\n\n\n\n	W
alking will be for 2½-3 hours\, with frequent stops to look at wildlife.
You’ll need a moderate level of fitness and be able to cope with walking
on uneven ground.\n\n\n\n	Please note that this will be a naturist event
and has been arranged by East Sussex Naturists.\n\n\n\n	The cost is £40.0
0 per person. Please book direct with ESN at esnaturists@gmail.com.\n\n\n\
