DESCRIPTION:The most northerly GBSD event. This location will be a bit
of a trek for most but there are plenty of accommodation options nearby a
nd several other beaches and skinny-dipping opportunities to explore in th
e area so why not make a weekend of it?Join us at Findhorn East beach (pos
	tcode IV36 3AB\, what3words booklets.boxing.dragonfly) for the most northe
rly GBSD in the UK! This stunning location is at one end of a 7-mile bea
ch to Burghead with views across the Moray Firth towards Caithness. Curiou
s seals often come along to see what is happening\, dolphins regularly vis
it the area and a basking shark joined the dip in 2024 (from a safe distan
ce)! The event will raise funds for the Findhorn Dunes Trust who own the se
ction of beach which we’ll be using. Although they are a not on JustGivi
ng\, they are a registered charity and their bank details can be provided
to anyone who wants to make donations directly. Funds enable the charity t
o raise awareness about this fragile environment and promote activities to
remove invasive species which are destroying the rare 'dune heath' which
is home to a variety of endangered lichens\, fungi and moths. Suggested do
nation of £10 per person\, or as much as you can afford. Please park in th
e East Beach car park which is signposted towards the right on the approac
h to Findhorn. The car park is at the end of “Dunes Road”\, which is a
bit of a rough track towards the end. Park around to the left and please
leave the “Blue Badge” spaces for those who have a blue badge. The car
park is free\, though donations are welcome. There are no facilities at t
he east beach. There are facilities (toilets\, cafes) in Findhorn itself a
nd on the main beach which are a short drive or 10-minute walk away.
