By special request we are repeating the walk that we did on World Naked Hiking Day.
(Assuming the weather forecast is correct(!))
The walk will start from the hamlet of Mungrisdale (near Penrith, CA11 0XR). We will climb Souther Fell, then descend to a bridge across the River Glenderamackin then up to the summit of Bannerdale Crags. Then we walk to the summit of Bowscale Fell.
From Bowscale Fell we can either descend directly to Mungrisdale or descend via Bowscale Tarn.
The walk will be between 8 and 9 miles (13 to 15 km) with about 2,200 feet of ascent (665 metres). I estimate it would take about 5 hours walking plus about an hour for stops eg lunch.
The walk is on typical Lake District terrain, with a bit of road walking, grassy paths, some stony, rocky paths, and potentially boggy areas.
Please bear in mind that this is quite a challenging walk if you're not used to walking in the area, with significant climbs and descents. In the past people have turned back on similar walks due to the amount of climbing or the rough terrain!
Lake District weather is very changeable and what might look like a nice warm day at the start could be very different on the summits. Although we hope to walk naked for some of the walk you should bring warm and waterproof clothing, and suitable footwear (unless you are a bare footer).
