Report October 2015 of massive cliff falls onto the beach.

Report March 2018 of further massive cliff falls onto the beach, plus the steps to the beach have been destroyed.

May 2019 Steps have washed away, traditional assess unavailable. Only Via walk from Lynmouth on low tide,  area is overgrown, cliff face on the beach and inaccessible and cut off other than at low tide.

This entry is retained as a warning and to set the record straight. It is no longer safe to use this beach.

Prior to 2015 the beach was mostly shingle, but good sand at low tide. Safe bathing at all states of the tide. (Children should stick to the sand at low tide.) Do not attempt to walk the foreshore from Lynmouth. Instead, park one third of the way up Countisbury Hill, and use the well maintained - though quite steep - footpath to the beach. The beach is 1 kilometer long, and naturists tend to use the far end. However the beach is not overlooked and is very secluded, so there is an excellent degree of tolerance from any textile users.
